  • There is no better place to enjoy activities than Republic. Whether picnicking at one of the beautiful parks, playing tennis, playing golf, enjoying the Republic Aquatic Center or the Republic Community Center, we offer a wide range of outdoor activities. The City of Republic now features over 2.4 miles of paved trails, and will soon add a fourth trail. In 2003 The Community Center was official opened to the public. It offers: a gymnasium with two full basketball courts, indoor walking track, two community rooms, café/concessions area, and a 24 hour fitness center operated through Cox Health Systems which include free-weights, cardiovascular training, nautilus equipment, child care, and an aerobic room.

    Sports and leisure activities are an integral part of the Republic way of life. Entertainment and recreational facilities are designed to meet the needs of all, regardless of age, ability, or interest.

    For area history, Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, located just minutes east of Republic, is the location of the first Civil War Battle west of the Mississippi. The visitor’s center has a theater, exhibits, and maps. A 5 mile tour road and trails allow complete access to the park. You can see the restored 1852 Ray House and “Bloody Hill”, the scene of the heaviest fighting. The battlefield has acquired the largest collection of privately owned Civil War artifacts relating to the war in the Trans-Mississippi Theater consisting of approximately 10,000 items, including uniforms, weapons, flags, photographs and personal effects.     Missouri’s single largest tourist attraction, Bass Pro Shop, is in nearby Springfield. You will also find the Springfield Symphony, Springfield Ballet, Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, Springfield Little Theatre, and The Springfield Art Museum located in nearby Springfield. In 2004 Cardinals Double-A Minor League Baseball team for the St. Louis Cardinals located in Springfield at Hammons Field.

    You will also appreciate Republic’s proximity to the entertainment capital, Branson, Missouri. Located just 40 minutes away. Branson is home to Silver Dollar City. Close to Republic you will find several lakes providing fishing, camping and boating.
