Banwart’s background includes experience as a school counselor, a co-founder of a not-for-profit organization (Give Back Republic), a local business owner, and an adjunct professor, giving her a unique perspective and set of qualifications to help lead and nurture the Republic business community as it continues to grow.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Andrea lead the chamber,” said board President-elect Dustin Royster. “Her vision of the chamber as an advocate for business, and her eagerness to take a leadership role alongside city government and the Republic School District, have us excited about the future.”
Outgoing director Ron Peabody, who helped the chamber reach unprecedented membership growth during his tenure, is leaving the position to pursue business opportunities with his wife, Sandy. He has agreed to stay on through the end of the year to help with the transition.
“We are grateful to Ron for his leadership these past two years, and wish him and Sandy the best in all their future pursuits,” said Royster.
Banwart will begin her employment December 1.
