SUMMARY:Chamber Chat - Republic Citizen Police Academy
DESCRIPTION:Please join us tomorrow from 9-10am at the Republic Police Department for the first Chamber Chat in 2020! Lieutenant Jamie Burks will be discussing the Annual Republic Citizens Police Academy.\n\n\n\nThe Citizen Police Academy provides community members with an inside look at local law enforcement. While attending the academy\, students will be introduced to a variety of topics as part of the curriculum. The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to a traditional police academy.\n\n\n\nClasses are taught mostly by police officers. Academy participants will have the opportunity to meet the Chief of Police and staff members\, and are encouraged to ask questions and express ideas. The goal is to strengthen the relationship between the Police Department and the community by giving citizens a better understanding of police operations\, and how we can work together.\n\nCurriculum Topics include:\n\n\n	911 Communications Center\n	Crime Scene Investigation\n	Criminal Investigations\n	Identity Theft\n	Patrol Procedures\n	Special Operations\n	Traffic/DUI Investigations\n	Use of Force\n\nApplications can be obtained at the Police Department. Potential candidates must meet the following criteria:\n\n\n	A minimum age of 18 years old\n	No felony convictions\n	No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application\n	Reside or work in the City of Republic
