About Us

YMCA Camp Wakonda, located just 15-20 minutes outside Republic, Missouri, is a place where children unplug from the world, experience the beauty of the Ozarks, and find where they truly belong. Grounded in the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, Camp Wakonda provides a safe, supportive environment where campers develop empathy, integrity, and confidence through meaningful connections and outdoor adventure.

As an American Camping Association accredited camp, safety is a top priority, with trained and carefully screened staff certified in First Aid, CPR, and specialized activities. For over 100 years, Camp Wakonda has offered youth a chance to disconnect from technology and immerse themselves in nature, building friendships and discovering their strengths.

Campers engage in a variety of activities such as rock wall climbs, creek explorations, campfire songs, and themed dinners that foster teamwork, resilience, and self-expression. Each day balances active fun with quiet reflection, helping kids grow a strong moral compass and a sense of belonging.

In addition to youth programs, Camp Wakonda offers team-building days for businesses, providing companies a unique outdoor experience to strengthen collaboration and community impact.

The Ozarks Regional YMCA is committed to ensuring no child is denied access due to financial limitations, offering scholarships that nurture potential and promote positive growth in behavior, health, and education.
